Backpain in Men

A lot of us underestimate how the simplest of day-to-day tasks can have on our bodies. Believe it or not, just a 9-5 office job is enough to put strain on your body.

By just breaking up that 5 day period of being sat for the majority of the day in an office without much movement, to then doing any physically demanding sport such as running or playing football on the weekend is an irregular routine of excercise. This is why your muscles may ache for a few days after.

There's lots of evidence online and otherwise that men don't often seek for help with these kinds of problems. The majority of the time, men tend to replace professional help with over-the-counter medicine. Although the symptoms are reduced, getting help would be better, not just for immediate relief but in the long term too.

If your schedule is just too busy and you can't find the time for treatment, you could try to prevent symptoms in advance by introducing regular activity into your day. It could be as simple as walking or cycling to work. When the weekend comes around and you want to be active it wont be as much of a shock to your body.

The same goes for going to the gym a couple of times a week. A lot of gym-goers work out at a level that is too intense, but are unaware of the consequences of doing this. By ignoring the signs your body is telling you, it most likely will lead to repeat offenses. For longer-lasting relief and avoidance of shoulder pain, you should replace these excercises with others that put less pressure on your muscles.

A common reason for back and shoulder pain is simply over use of the joint. Unfortunately, this often breaks down the soft tissues in the shoulder region. This tends to happen faster as we get older too.

Over using your shoulder could be anything from lifting weights that are too heavy in the gym or even not correctly manual handling an awkward item at work. If you think this is the reason for your discomfort, take a day or two for resting your shoulders, apply ice and elevate for relief.

Also, just a little reminder that eating well makes for healthier bones! We all know this already, but too many of us seem to forget at times so make sure you have a well-balanced diet. Stronger bones means that the strain of every day tasks won't affect your physical ability quite so much.
